I wrote most of this song sitting on the steps outside of my college cafeteria. It was my first semester there and I knew nobody, but not only that, it didn't seem like anyone was very interested in knowing each other. Optics is an outcry from that solitary feeling of collective isolation: 

it's all a show, just a touch and it collapses [What?]

Everything.
