I wrote most of this song sitting on the steps outside of my college cafeteria. It was my first semester there and I knew nobody, but not only that, it didn't seem like anyone was very interested in knowing each other. Optics is an outcry from that solitary feeling of collective isolation:
it's all a show, just a touch and it collapses [What?]
Everything.

The Allegory of Negative Q.
Album
An artist's growth is marked by the lessons learned along the way. For a period of time, I switched my artist name to Negative Q. and explored an imagined ideal of personal dissociation from my creative work. The result was bountiful, to say the least.
Ideas translated themselves with less apprehension as Q., and even in performance my body moved with a practiced smoothness that felt alien to my composure out of the alter ego.
Within a year or so, it became clear that the ease of Q.'s development didn't come from released inhibitions, but rather, from concealed singularity. By leaning into the expectations of what I thought I was expected to be on the stage, I became an actor whose role bled his mind for want of performance perfection.
This album charts the conceptual progression through that journey now that I have found my way forward... It is Negative Q. who is on the table, and I who is at once, linearly bonded, yet symbolically removed, standing above.
